Self magazine comes up with a workout for you and your dog

I got an animal-related e-mail today that I just had to share with you all.

Self magazine has come up with a workout you can do with your pet. After watching the video above, I think I'd just frustrate my brood with the tennis ball you're supposed to hold during the workout rather than exercise them.

The story did mention that the University of Missouri's Research Center for Human-Animal Interaction in Columbia found people who walked with dogs increased their pace 28 percent when compared with those who walked alone.

We haven't been doing much walking recently because Cuddles, our latest foster dog, went into heat a week-and-a-half ago, and I'm not taking any chances at having an accidental litter by letting her out of our fenced-in yard until her cycle has passed. But we do walk pretty quickly with four dogs leading the way.

Do your dogs help you get exercise, too?

  1. I love this. I have a cockatoo and he sure could use some exercise. He looks moor cocker like Einstein. Rascal was abused and it has taken us 6 years to get him to realize we love him. And when we raise our hands it’s to pet him. He is one hell of a guard do. No one touches me. Then there’s Ziva and she is a Diva. She waits to be carried to bed and really waits until it’s done. Too funny. She lays on the back of my couch ilk a cat. Talks to us like I have never seen a dog do. Rascal too, he sounds more like Scooby Doo. That’s ok. My son looks more like Shaggy and my girls are Velma and Daphne. No lie. We call my tow k9 children Lady and the Tramp. It is so fitting. Ziva will not go in the rain. She will hold it until it slows down or stops. So spoiled. She is the one who will exercise with me. Loves to play fetch. Especially with my christmas balls. I talk to much…Later
